Suriyan, Sri Rama and Lakshmana, Lava and Kucha, Doorvasar, Indrani,
Sri Krishna, and other devas worshiped this deity.
Once
upon a time there was a king who came hunting to this place. When he
was riding a branch of dry flower-climber got stuck in his elephant's
legs. To withdraw from the junk the king cut them with his sword.
When he was cutting the dry plants he noticed that blood was exuding
from that place. Immediatly he descended from the elephant and
cleared the bush. He saw there was a Siva Lingam with blood oozing
from its forehead.
The king felt very sad and went to his kingdom and ordered his minister to clean up the place and arrange to build a temple for the deity. The minister obeyed the king's orders and built a temple and instaled the icon. The king endowed much wealth to the temple for daily rituals and festivals. even now one can see a cut mark on the deity's forehead .
